Diagnose the symptom—not just the motor.

A central vacuum that suddenly loses performance does not automatically need a new power unit. The root cause might be a full collection container, clogged filter, blocked hose, leaking inlet gasket, a low-voltage connection or a failed motor.

We start by understanding what changed: whether the issue affects one inlet or the entire house, whether the motor can be activated at the power unit, and what model you own. That distinction directs the repair.

ADVANCED VACUUM SYSTEMS

Repair what makes sense. Replace what doesn’t.

Many built-in systems are intended to be serviced. If existing wall piping is sound, a motor repair or replacement power unit may restore performance without opening finished walls.

We can discuss the age, condition, replacement-part availability and cost of the options before you decide.

GOOD QUESTIONS. STRAIGHT ANSWERS.

Frequently asked questions

Can you repair an older central vacuum?

Often, yes. Availability of motors, boards and other parts depends on the make, model and condition of the unit.

Why does only one inlet have low suction?

A loose or blocked hose, inlet leakage or branch obstruction can affect one location while the rest of the system performs normally.

Do you repair portable vacuums?

No. We specialize in built-in central vacuum systems, not portable vacuum cleaner repairs.

Why will my central vacuum motor not turn on?

Possible causes include a tripped breaker, a failed low-voltage control circuit, a switch problem, a defective board or motor failure. Diagnosis should begin with the symptom and safe electrical checks.

What causes weak suction throughout the house?

A full collection container, restricted filter, obstructed hose or pipe, air leak, or failing power unit can reduce suction. A systematic test helps isolate the cause.

Why does the vacuum turn on by itself or keep running?

A stuck hose switch, shorted low-voltage wire, faulty inlet contacts or a control-board issue may cause unintended operation. Disconnect power and arrange service if you cannot safely isolate the problem.

Is replacing the motor cheaper than replacing the entire unit?

It can be, especially when the housing and other components are sound. Compare the complete repair cost, part availability, age and performance of a suitable replacement unit.

Can a clogged central vacuum pipe be cleared without opening a wall?

Many restrictions can be isolated and removed through existing access points. Some severe blockages or damaged fittings require more involved repairs.
